## How it works

The main-gift share is your chosen percent of the total budget.

When a main gift is reserved, the rest is divided evenly across the other people on your list.

When nothing is reserved, the whole budget is divided evenly across everyone.

Shares are rounded to cents, so the parts may differ from the total by a cent or two.

## Questions

### How much should I keep for the main gift?

There is no fixed rule. A common approach is to spend most of the budget on the people closest to you and small, equal amounts on the rest. Try 50% for one person as a starting point and adjust.

### What about couples or families who get one shared gift?

Count a shared gift as one person on the list, then split that share between the recipients however you like.

### Should the budget include wrapping, cards and shipping?

Add them if you buy them. Subtract a fixed amount for supplies and postage from the total before you enter it here.
